According to Nota, Mörda, one half of Black Motion alongside Thabo Smol, believed his brand had more room to grow without the partnership.

"Murdah is a more disciplined guy, and he just felt like, you know, his brand could go further if he was just pushing it on his own," Nota said during the recording. His verdict? That the gamble backfired badly. "It disintegrated. He had to start from scratch."

Nota used the moment to make a broader point about Black Motion's legacy, arguing that had the pair stayed together, they could have led the genre ahead of the likes of the Scorpion Kings. "Black Motion was hot when Pory was nothing," he said, referencing a time before Kabza De Small rose to prominence. "If Black Motion didn't split up, they probably would have been ahead of Three-Step."
