Talented actress and media personality Carina Nel recently received love from her 7de Laan colleagues and fans of the show after revealing she's been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Nel is the latest South African actress, after legendary actress Michelle Botes, to be diagnosed with cancer.

The talented star confirmed her illness on her Instagram account on 1 October 2026 and shared a photo of her shaved head.

The actress revealed that she started her chemotherapy on 5th May 2026 and is still busy doing it.

"The road is long and difficult. There are still many challenges ahead of me: months of treatment already finished and still ahead of me, several surgeries, more scans, more doctors, possible radiation, years of hormone treatment, side effects, etc.," she said.

Nel added that she is not fighting alone, but her family is fighting with her.

"People don't always know how much cancer affects the people who love you too. You carry it with me."

7de Laan actors react to Nel's cancer diagnosis

Actor Andre Lotter, who played Nel's on-screen brother Rikus Welman, replied:

"All the love for you, sis❤️❤️❤️❤️."

Actress Beata_bena_, who played Shady Vermeulen, said:

"Carintjie. 🤍🤍🤍. I am sending you so much love.♥️."

Actor David Rees, who played Nel's on-screen father Chris Welman, commented:

"Stay strong. We love you very much, and I will stand on my knees and pray. May our Lord bring you through this.”
