Indeed, good things come to those who wait and continue to work hard. The former Idols SA finalist and music teacher, Monde Msutwana, received top recognition for his work.
According to a media statement shared with Briefly News, it was reported that Msutwana has been recognised as a contributing composer to the Grammy-winning album Alkebulan II by US artist MattB featuring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, which won in the category of Best Global Music Album.
Monde expressed his gratitude after the nod
Monde expressed his gratitude for how his hard work had paid off and cemented his name on the international stage. The singer joins the likes of Tyla and Thuso Mbedu, who have been flying the South African flag high internationally.
"Receiving a Grammy on a personal level means that all I was doing all those years has paid off. Professionally, it elevates my artistry and gives my name and work more clout," he said.
Monde talks about his journey as a music teacher
The former Idols SA finalist further shared how he went from being a singer to a school music teacher at Reddford House, The Hills. He also mentioned his journey of mentoring the students and how they reacted when they found out that Mtsuwana had received international acknowledgement.
He said:
"I got into teaching to share my years of experience with young artists who have great ambition but limited knowledge. I recognised what the youth needed, and I knew I had it.
"The students were just as enthusiastic as I was. The support from my colleagues and the wider Reddford community has made me feel truly at home. The only thing that can hold you back from becoming what you want to be is yourself. Be unique, be resilient, and never stop creating."
Ravi Nadasen, CEO of Inspired Africa and the Middle East, Said:
“Monde Msutwana’s journey shows how important it is to have purpose, keep going, and care deeply about what you do – and reminds us that amazing talent can be found, supported, and recognised right here at home."
