The announcement comes after an explosive first day of ticket sales on Tuesday, 5 May, where Webtickets recorded over half a million users in the queue attempting to secure tickets - a staggering and historic figure that has never been seen before for any local or international artist on South African soil.

Just hours after going on sale, over 50 000 tickets were sold - matching the full capacity of last year’s landmark Scorpion Kings Live with Friends at Loftus Versfeld Stadium - and accounting for 60% of the total capacity for this year’s show at FNB Stadium.

The overwhelming response sparked real-time engagement from fans across social media, with many calling for additional tickets to be released. During a live session on Instagram, DJ Maphorisa, who was later joined by Kabza De Small, responded directly to fans - asking them if the tickets originally reserved for a later date should be made available immediately.

“We see the demand, we see the fans asking, and we want to know from you, do we release more today at 5pm or later?” said DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small. “These tickets were always meant for the people, especially those who usually buy later in the month. But after yesterday, it’s clear - we need to open it up so more people can come through and be part of this.”

Originally reserved to accommodate fans purchasing around mid-month and end-of-month pay cycles, this allocation will now be released to the public today at 5pm, ensuring broader access to the event in response to overwhelming demand.

Set to take place on 19 September 2026, Scorpion Kings Live at FNB Stadium is expected to welcome over 80 000 fans, making it the largest Amapiano concert ever staged. Following the groundbreaking 2025 edition, the event continues to grow into a defining cultural experience that reflects the global rise of the genre.

As anticipation builds and demand continues at record-breaking levels, DJ Maphorisa has indicated that there is a possibility of expanding the experience even further. Should tickets sell out rapidly following today’s release, a second show may be considered - a move that would mark yet another milestone for the Scorpion Kings and Amapiano at large.

Fans are urged to act quickly as the next wave of tickets becomes available, as demand is expected to remain exceptionally high.

Tickets are available on Webtickets, Pick n Pay and Boxer stores nationwide.

This is more than just a show - it’s history unfolding in real time.
