A South African man teaching English in South Korea has left Mzansi speechless after sharing what public toilets look like in his new home country. The video, posted on 10 September 2025, went viral with over 34,000 views and more than 1,000 reactions as he gave viewers a detailed tour of a Korean public toilet facility.
In the video, the teacher walked through the spotless facility, explaining that all public toilets in South Korea maintain this standard of cleanliness and functionality. He showed the urinals designed for gentlemen, showed the pristine toilet stalls, and pointed out an emergency button available if users need assistance.
The man also showed features for people with disabilities, including specialised equipment and accessible options. He showed automated sliding doors operated by buttons, and said that everything actually works without being vandalised - making a clear comparison to South African facilities where things often get broken or become unusable.
The tour continued with him showing the soap dispensers for hand sanitising, proper washing facilities, and automatic hand dryers. The entire experience was completely free and available in public spaces throughout South Korea.

Public toilet hygiene matters for health
According to experts on The Specialists, poor washroom hygiene isn’t just about bad smells — it’s a real health risk.
Content creator @collincebelihle25 showed how much better South Korea’s facilities are compared to South Africa’s, stressing how clean toilets protect public health.
Dirty bathrooms let bacteria and viruses thrive. When you flush, the “toilet sneeze” spreads germs into the air and onto surfaces for hours.
Without regular cleaning, these germs can cause infections that spread quickly. On the other hand, clean facilities with soap, sanitiser, and proper upkeep encourage good hygiene and meet health standards. Neglecting toilets harms reputations and can even break safety regulations.
