South Africa touched by Mitchells Plain teacher

People commended the teacher for looking out for her students in a thoughtful way. People were horrified that the school needed a shootout routine because gunfire is very common in the area. Watch the video of the teacher playing music amid gunshots below:

Liesel Gaffley | Author said:

"This teacher she played soft music and kept her voice steady so the children wouldn’t panic. Watching it broke me. 💔 Because this isn’t new. This is everyday life for so many children on the Cape Flats. Our kids are learning to hide from bullets before they even learn long division. They are becoming used to violence, and that thought terrifies me. "

Samantha commented:

"Teacher of the year award for this teacher. Through your own fears, you remained calm so that those kids to not be afraid. Excellence at its best in the worst of situations."
