Nkululeko Dlamini turned football disappointment into fitness success after struggling for opportunities. The eZakheni-born trainer from Ladysmith built a recognised brand through specialised lower-body workouts and disciplined training methods.

A report by MDN TV explored how Dlamini became South Africa’s famous King of Squats. His growing popularity has transformed him into a sought-after trainer across several countries.

Born and raised in eZakheni, Dlamini initially pursued a career in football. After completing his teaching qualifications, he joined Jomo Cosmos during 2009.

The move represented a major breakthrough for the ambitious young sportsman. However, limited playing opportunities prevented him from establishing himself consistently.

Dlamini later moved to Eswatini, where his football career flourished significantly. He became a household name and enjoyed success on the field.

His performances eventually earned him a return to Jomo Cosmos thereafter. Unfortunately, regular game time remained difficult despite his successful spell abroad.

Faced with another setback, Dlamini decided to pursue a different path. He focused fully on fitness training and developing specialised workout programmes.

How football setbacks helped build a fitness empire

Drawing from his football background, Dlamini prioritised lower-body strength development exclusively. Years of dedication eventually produced the physique that made him famous.

He later created his signature training method called Mgogodla weStimela nationwide. The programme attracted a loyal following seeking effective lower-body conditioning results.

Dlamini now operates a gym on Marshall Street within Johannesburg’s city centre. Clients attend structured training sessions every Monday, Wednesday and Friday weekly.

His reputation extends beyond South Africa through guest appearances across Africa regularly. Organisations frequently invite him to lead fitness sessions and wellness events.

Maskandi music remains central to every workout session conducted by Dlamini. He believes local culture deserves greater representation within modern fitness spaces.

Despite widespread attention, Dlamini keeps his personal life away from publicity. Instead, he focuses on fitness, faith and expanding his growing business.
