LIMPOPO — The South African Police Service in Limpopo held its annual Police Sunday gathering on 16 August 2026 at Celebration Church in Mokopane, Waterberg District, bringing together officers, community leaders and faith-based organisations in a morning of prayer and spiritual reflection.
The event was led by SAPS Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers, alongside Limpopo MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Ms Violet Mathye. The occasion was held under the theme "I am making a new thing," drawn from Revelation 21:5a.
Senior officials and community stakeholders attend
Among those present were Mogalakwena Local Municipality Mayor Councillor N Tauetswala, Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Corporate Services Major General FM Sebola, Vhembe District Commissioner Major General Van der Walt, Waterberg District Commissioner Brigadier J Moloi, and Acting Chief Director Ms MM Mogashoa. Representatives from the Department of Health, the Community Police Forum, the Youth Crime Prevention programme and various local faith-based organisations also attended.

The gathering served as a platform to honour the dedication and sacrifices of police officers while praying for their safety and that of their families. It also emphasised the importance of integrity and service excellence in the ongoing effort to combat crime across Limpopo's communities.
