A TikTok video of a Food Chain buffet in Johannesburg stopped South Africans mid-scroll. Posted by @joy_shaku on 26 August 2026, the clip showed a generous plate piled with pasta, fried fish and chicken, followed by a self-serve station where a person scooped waffles topped with soft-serve ice cream.

What the R95 actually covers

The creator clarified in the caption that the R95 figure applies to children under 12, who pay half price. For adults, Food Chain runs several pricing tiers depending on the day and meal. A continental breakfast costs R105.90 per person from Monday to Thursday, while a breakfast buffet from Friday to Sunday, including public holidays, is priced at R125.90. Lunch or dinner on a Monday comes in at R156.90, Tuesday to Thursday at R185.90, and other days jump to R285.90 per person.
