A South African comedian had Mzansi doubled over with laughter after posting a satirical skit portraying ANC campaign canvassing.

Comedian @makabongwe_mdletshe uploaded the video to Instagram on 28 September 2026, and it quickly resonated with South Africans who felt it hit a little too close to home.

The skit is set partly inside a corrugated-metal shack and partly on a residential street, with rolling hills visible in the background. A group of young men dressed in yellow ANC branded T-shirts play the role of party canvassers going door to door.

The skit pokes fun at campaign canvassing

The joke at the heart of the skit centres on what the campaigners are handing out. The phrase that had viewers losing it was:

The comedian's delivery was straight-faced and committed, which only made the absurdity land harder.
