"Imagine the Private Prayers": SA Man Shares Prayer Before Drive in Navara from Cape Town to JHB

A South African TikToker known as Chef Makamo had Mzansi feeling all the feels after sharing a vlog of his solo overnight drive from Cape Town to Johannesburg on 26 September 2026.

Before turning the key, he bowed his head in prayer outside the white Nissan Navara bakkie. He asked God for safe travels, protection on the road, and strength for the journey ahead, so he could return the car he was trusted with. It was a quiet, sincere moment that viewers could not scroll past.

Chef Makamo set off at 7:00 in the evening, with 1,500 kilometres between him and Gauteng. He had been enjoying the bakkie during his time in Cape Town and was now returning it, meaning he would arrive home without a car. Still, he kept his spirits high, telling viewers that God always makes a plan.

Cape Town is not your grandmother's road

He filmed his GPS, dashboard, and fuel stops along the way. His first tank of diesel came to around R2,000 for a full fill, and he stopped again for another half tank later in the journey. By midnight, he was still pushing through, laughing to himself and reminding viewers that 15 hours on the road is no small thing. He said:

"Cape Town is not your grandmother's road. You must exercise. 1,500 km. This is not for small boys."

He planned his first rest stop around Beaufort West, roughly six hours in, though he considered pushing further if he still had energy.
