Bonang Matheba didn't appreciate the Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula's tweet saying he had landed in Qatar Doha on Sunday. The media personality said the minister was tone-deaf to the community of Pongola.

On Friday, 16 September, 21 people died in a horrific car crash on the N2 in Kwa-Zulu Natal. 19 of the deceased were school children, so Bonang felt like Mbalula should be in Pongola addressing the community.

Mbalula responded by posting a statement from Transport Ministry saying that he is aware and saddened by the accident that happened in Pongola and that this terrible accident should be a wake-up call to South Africans to follow all road safety laws.

"The Minister wished to convey condolences to the families of the deceased who lost their lives in the collision between a light and a heavy motor vehicle.
"We will be working be working with alongside our Road Traffic Management Corporation to investigate the causes of the accident and ensure that those liable for the incident are held responsible."

South Africans gave their input online:

@MaxwellModiba said:

"The way you are so forward and hungry for attention. You always hide in your nest until you have something nasty to say. You are driven by headlines and never really comment on the news. Stop clout chasing. You don't even know department plans but o busy with characters."

@Floyd18629804 added:

"They need the police to do their job. MEC of the province is on the ground. We need investors. The person who did that is arrested. So if Mbalula goes there what will he do to change what happened, drivers need to respect roads laws simple."

@ceenaomi asked:

"Even if he was in the country, what would he have done? Absolutely nothing."

@MapulaMokgosang commented:

"One thing about Bonang, she will call out BS. A consistent queen!"

@Just_Lungile tweeted:

"He is not even ashamed to post that tweet. He is just an influencer lo."

@011Shiesty said:

"He is going to post they were at some transport expo. But bring nothing and implement nothing."

@MaxwellModiba wrote:

"Do you want the minister to be in Pongola or government to be there? I see people like you here on Twitter speaking nonsense, trying to politicize people's pain. So many roads are built and handed over, and you say nothing. You are only waiting to be mini Malcom here on Twitter."
