Multiple Fatal Shootings Reported Across Cape Flats Over 24 Hours

WESTERN CAPE, CAPE FLATS - A series of fatal shootings across several Cape Flats areas between 31 March and the morning of 1 April 2026 left multiple people dead and others wounded.

Multiple killed in Cape Flats shootings

Journalist Yusuf Abramjee reported that in Manenberg, three people were killed, and three others were wounded in separate shooting incidents reported in Elbe Street, Tousberg Street and Renoster Street. The shootings occurred at different times throughout the day. In Athlone, a man was shot and critically wounded in Yusuf Gool Street. In Eastridge, Mitchells Plain, an adult male was shot dead in Katdoring Street on Tuesday night, 31 March 2026.

Another fatal shooting was reported in Salt River, where a man was killed in a drive-by shooting on Shelley Street. In Hanover Park, one person was shot dead in Rywood Walk on Tuesday night, while a separate incident in Steenberg resulted in a fatal shooting at the intersection of Beethoven and Flute streets.

Violence continued into Wednesday morning, 1 April 2026. In Hanover Park, two people were shot dead inside a shack in Turburg Walk. In Westridge, Mitchells Plain, an adult male was shot dead near a BP garage on Cedars Avenue Road between Westridge and Rocklands. A further shooting in Hanover Park left one person wounded in a drive-by attack on Ryston Road, Tiberius Court, marking the third reported shooting incident in the area since Tuesday night.

Briefly News also reported that multiple shootings across Cape Town from Friday, 13 March, to Sunday, 15 March 2026, left numerous people dead and several others wounded, with incidents reported in multiple communities.

On Friday, 13 March 2026, two people were shot and killed at the corner of Mew Way and Old Faure Road in Mfuleni. In a separate incident in Cloetesville, Stellenbosch, two people were shot on Pine Road. One victim died while another was wounded.
