GAUTENG - Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane has publicly called on residents of Reiger Park and surrounding areas to assist investigators in identifying and locating those responsible for the killing of two Anti-Gang Unit officers.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) Acting National Commissioner made the appeal on Friday, 7 August 2026, following the murders of the two officers. The two officers, and two other people, were shot dead after responding to a shooting in the area.
General Dimpane warns against protecting suspects
Addressing the murders, General Dimpane stressed that members of the community likely possess critical information about the attack and urged them not to shelter those responsible.

"We know that someone saw what happened. Someone knows who pulled the trigger, who planned this attack or where the suspects are hiding.
“We are pleading with the community not to protect ruthless criminals who have no regard for human life. Your silence only emboldens those who continue to terrorise your community," General Dimpane said.
The Acting Commissioner also paid tribute to the two fallen officers, reminding the public of the personal cost borne by police members and their families.
"Our members are not just police officers. They are fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, sons and daughters who leave their homes every day knowing they may not return, all in the service of protecting South Africans. Today, two families are mourning because these brave officers answered a call for help."
Maximum resources deployed in manhunt
The SAPS has mobilised specialised investigative units to pursue the suspects, though their identities and whereabouts remain unknown at this stage. General Dimpane appealed directly to Reiger Park residents to actively cooperate with police, emphasising that no piece of information should be considered too insignificant to share.
The Acting Commissioner confirmed that the SAPS would continue its pursuit of the perpetrators until they were brought before the courts.
