Kempton Park Woman Kidnapped and Raped After Boarding Fake E-Hailing Vehicle

GAUTENG — Kempton Park police are investigating a kidnapping and rape case after a 34-year-old woman was lured into what she believed was her booked e-hailing vehicle near her place of work. Her survival came after another woman survived a kidnapping attempt in Kempton Park recently.
The Citizen reported that the incident occurred after she had lunch with a friend at Mosquito Park. She used an e-hailing app to request a lift, and a Suzuki arrived. Shortly after boarding, she noticed the driver was not heading to her destination but was instead travelling along Pomona Road.
How the attack unfolded
A second man entered the vehicle while it was on Pomona Road and restrained the woman. The driver then turned into a private yard used for housing trucks. Inside the yard, a third suspect climbed into the car, placed a white cloth over her face, and sexually assaulted her.

The victim lost and later regained consciousness the following morning still inside the vehicle, near the Simba factory. Her attackers dropped her off close to the Rhodesfield Gautrain station and took her cellphone before leaving. She then made her way to the Kempton Park SAPS station to file formal charges.
Investigation under way
Police spokesperson Dipuo Ditshego confirmed that investigators have formally requested digital records from the ride-hailing platform, including trip logs, driver information, and vehicle registration data to help identify those responsible. No arrests have been made.
According to The Citizen, while police are cautious about drawing firm conclusions, detectives are examining whether this attack is connected to a series of deaths involving women discovered across Kempton Park and Olifantsfontein in recent months. Ditshego indicated it is too early to conclusively link the incidents, though investigators are reviewing possible operational similarities between the cases.
