SOUTH AFRICA - Activist Nkosikhona “Phakelumthakathi” Ndabandaba has joined the conversation around gender-based violence (GBV). This follows the recent discovery of women’s bodies in parts of Ekurhuleni, with the ninth body discovered this morning, 17 September 2026.
Activist gives reasons for his fight against GBV
Phakelumthakathi took to social media to share a picture of himself with his young daughter, explaining that his role as a father had motivated him to take a stand against the killings.
“Because of her love I’m going to Kempton Park,” he wrote.

He went on to say that the women being killed reminded him of his own family.
“Because I’m a father, those girls are my daughters. Because I’m a brother to someone, those ladies are my sisters,” he said.
The activist added that he could not remain on the sidelines while women continued to lose their lives.
He further said that as a man he couldn't stand aside and look without taking any actions.
Phakelumthakathi announces Kempton Park march
Phakelumthakathi also announced plans to hold a march in Kempton Park on Saturday, 19 September 2026.
The area has been thrust into the spotlight following the discovery of several women's bodies in Ekurhuleni. Five of the nine bodies reportedly discovered in the recent cases were found in Kempton Park, adding to concerns in the community.
The recent discoveries have sparked calls for answers and increased efforts to address violence against women in the area.
Phakelumthakathi urged South African men to consider what they could do to help tackle the country's problems.
“As a man in South Africa, ask yourself a question: ‘What am I doing to help this country?"
Activist known for immigration stance
Phakelumthakathi is also known for his activism around illegal immigration and has previously made strong calls for undocumented foreign nationals to leave South Africa.
He has said that, because of activism by his movement, he expects all undocumented foreigners to be out of South Africa by November.
His latest call to action comes as communities in Ekurhuleni grapple with the discovery of women's bodies in Kempton Park, KwaThema Olifanstfonetin and Clayville.
Phakelumthakathi ally Jacinta Ngobese Zuma also took to the streets in soliarity with the woman slain in Ekurhuleni.
March and March slams government on Ekurhuleni women killings response
Briefly News also reported that Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma, leader of the March and March Movement accused the South African government of failing its own citizens, claiming that had the women found murdered across Gauteng been foreign nationals, authorities would have responded with far greater urgency. Ngobese-Zuma made the remarks during an anti-GBV picket at the Durban Central Police Station.
