Manchester United have been linked with a move for Bayern Munich and Netherlands defender, Matthijs de Ligt.
Red Devils boss, Erik Ten Hag, has shared his thoughts about his former player and how he nearly signed him when he became manager at Old Trafford.
The English giants have already made two high-profile signings so far this summer: Joshua Zirkzee and French highly-rated defender, Lenny Yoro.
De Ligt is believed to be on the club's radar as they look to beef up their defence ahead of the 2024/25 season, per Sky Sports.

The club is looking to produce a much better campaign in 2024/25 after a poor 2023/24, where they finished eighth, their worst in the Premier League era.
Erik ten Hag on De Ligt
After leaving his boyhood club, Ajax, in 2019, the 24-year-old central defender spent two seasons at Juventus before joining his current club, Bayern Munich, in 2022.
The Dutch coach said he wanted to sign the young defender years ago, but there were obstacles.
“It remains to be seen whether De Ligt will come,” Ten Hag told AD Sportwereld as quoted by Football365.
“I know Matthijs well and I will not deny that. I wanted to sign him two years ago but at that time he was already very far along to join Bayern Munich but believe it or not, his name did not come from me in the process [at United].”
It is clear that Manchester United is still in the market for new signings despite its tight financial situation.
Erik ten Hag on Sancho
Briefly News also reported that Erik ten Hag spoke about his private talk with Jadon Sancho following their falling out in September 2023.
The former Ajax coach said he spoke with the winger and they will move on. He named the Englishman in their 2-0 win over Rangers on Saturday, July 20.
