Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag has said Marcus Rashford needed some help to bounce back from a difficult 2023/24 season.

The England international scored eight goals last season, made a shaky start this term, but has registered three goals this season.

The 26-year-old wasn't called up for the Euro 2024 and was disciplined twice by the Dutchman.

Rashford received intense criticism early this season after underwhelming performances, especially against Brighton and Liverpool.

However, he has scored three goals in the last two matches against Southampton and Barnsley, and some feel he is getting back to his best. Erik ten Hag suggested the winger could be a crucial player this season.

What Erik ten Hag said about Rashford

The former Ajax coach said players like Rashford face challenges and need resilience.

"Marcus Rashford has also experienced, he knows when there are setbacks, how to get fightback, how to set his career, his performance. He took control of it and I think he is on the way back. He started the season very good, now he has to continue and to progress." Ten Hag said via Manchester Evening News.

When asked if new assistant coach Ruud van Nistelrooy helped, Ten Has said Rashfron needed a helping hand.

"Probably he needed some help. At the end of the day, he has to do it by himself. He has to set his life right, his training attitude right, his match attitude right."

The England star is entering a crucial period of his career, and fans expect him to be consistent. Rashfrod bagged 30 goals in Erik ten Hag's first season but has not reached that level since.

Andre Onana lauds Rashford

Briefly News earlier reported that Man United goalkeeper Andre Onana praised Rashford after his goal against Southampton.

The Cameroon goalkeeper admitted Rashford's struggles last season and said he was happy he got back in the goals.
