Will the Sundowns left-back regain his place?
The utility player last season lost his place in the starting team to the Zimbabwean, Divine Lunga, and will be hoping to regain it this coming season. He has been with the Brazilians since 2020, when he moved from the now-defunct SuperSport United, and has since made 163 appearances for the defending champions, scoring nine goals and providing 17 assists.
He has won the league title with the Pretoria-based side on four occasions and made 35 appearances last season, but did not play in a game during the Club World Cup.
Mamelodi Sundowns players slammed
Briefly News previously reported that Mamelodi Sundowns players were criticised by netizens for dancing at the Hard Rock Stadium after their goalless draw with Fluminense.
This was despite their elimination from the FIFA Club World Cup tournament, which took place in the United States of America. Their talisman, Lucas Ribeiro, fought against Lionel Messi to win a prestigious FIFA award at the tournament.
