SAFA CEO Confirms Vincent Tseka Is No Longer Bafana Bafana Team Manager After Contract Expired

South African Football Association (SAFA) CEO Lydia Monyepao has confirmed that Vincent Tseka is no longer the Bafana Bafana Team Manager, telling a parliamentary committee that his contract lapsed on 31 July 2026. SAFA has since advertised the position.
The confirmation came during what appears to be a committee hearing on Tuesday, 25 August, as reported by SABC Sport presenter Thabiso Mosia on X (formerly Twitter).
Committee demands answers over Tseka's record
Committee members questioned why SAFA took no disciplinary action against Tseka despite a series of documented administrative failures. Among the incidents raised were delayed visa applications that pushed back Bafana Bafana's departure to North America by a full day in June 2026, as well as Tseka reportedly bringing the wrong jerseys to a training camp, forcing staff to cover the logo with tape.
Monyepao's response, that no action was taken because his contract had simply lapsed, was rejected by the committee as insufficient.
When pressed on Tseka's qualifications for the role, Monyepao said she was unable to provide an answer because he had been appointed before she joined the organisation. The committee was not satisfied, instructing her to go back, check the records, and return with a proper response.

What qualifications does the new candidate need?
The committee also asked Monyepao to outline the requirements for the now-advertised Team Manager position. She confirmed that candidates must hold either a Bachelor's degree in Sports Management with five years of relevant experience, or a Matric certificate accompanied by ten years of experience in the field.
The visa debacle earlier this year attracted significant public attention, including criticism from Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie, who described the situation as "embarrassing and grossly unfair towards the players and coaching staff." Assistant coach Helman Mkhalele was among those initially left behind while awaiting travel clearance.
Tseka's tenure was also marked by an earlier controversy involving midfielder Teboho Mokoena, who played against Lesotho in a 2025 World Cup qualifier while suspended. FIFA awarded Lesotho a 3-0 victory, deducted three points from South Africa and fined SAFA CHF10,000. At the time, SAFA indicated that tracking player suspensions fell under the team manager's responsibilities.
