Football analyst Themba Modise has offered Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane a specific striking recommendation ahead of the national team's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Eritrea during the current international break.
Mosimane's tenure as Bafana Bafana head coach began with a 2-1 victory over Guinea at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday. Iqraam Rayners started as the lead striker in that match, with Ime Okon and substitute Samukele Kabini scoring on either side of half-time to secure the three points. Guinea pulled one back before the final whistle, keeping the result tighter than Mosimane would have preferred.
Mosimane's concerns about goal-scoring
Following the Guinea fixture, the former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach expressed frustration with his side's lack of ruthlessness in front of goal, indicating that he expects a sharper attacking performance when Eritrea visit.

In an exclusive interview with Briefly News, Modise outlined exactly who he believes should be allowed to address those concerns.
"I think since he tried Iqraam Rayners against Guinea, he can give Yanela Mbuthuma the chance to prove himself as a starter against Eritrea," Modise said.
Mbuthuma's club form the deciding factor
Modise pointed to Mbuthuma's performances at club level as the key motivation behind his recommendation.
"Mbuthuma has been in good form for Orlando Pirates since the start of this season, and I expect him to bring that form into the national team," the analyst said.
Modise also pushed back against the notion that South Africa is short of striking options, suggesting the solution to Mosimane's concerns is within reach.
"We don't lack options in the striking department, so we can find solution speedily to Pitso's concerns raised about Bafana Bafana missing loads of chances," he added.
Bafana Bafana will look to build on their opening qualifier win when they take on Eritrea, with Mosimane under pressure to demonstrate a more clinical attacking display in what is only his second match in charge of the national side.
