Live matches and events will be added to the schedule throughout the year alongside the regular daily programming.
Broadsmart, a Johannesburg-based media and telecommunications company, operates SportsCast Africa. Yokow Quansah, Broadsmart's managing director, said the channel's offering was straightforward.
Hisense noted that the integration was a logical progression, given that its devices already accounted for the majority of SportsCast Africa's connected-TV viewership.
Free sports streaming grows in South Africa
Luna Nortje, deputy general manager of Hisense South Africa, said the launch meant local viewers could follow the sport they loved without incurring additional costs.
The arrival of SportsCast Africa on VIDAA broadens the free sports streaming landscape in South Africa, joining platforms such as SABC+.
The state broadcaster's streaming service surpassed three million registered users in August 2026 and experienced unprecedented demand during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with over 2.4 million viewers accessing the platform for the opening match between South Africa and Mexico. At its peak, 477,000 people watched simultaneously, nearly three times the SABC's previous record.
SportsCast Africa will continue operating across its existing distribution platforms alongside the new Hisense integration.
