Lionel Messi has ordered an 88-foot luxury yacht from Sunreef Yachts, adding another high-end vessel to his MIM Ocean fleet. The Sunreef ULTIMA 88 is currently under construction in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and is designed to accommodate the football superstar, his family and their guests.
Gulf News announced the order on Tuesday, 13 October 2026. The Polish yacht manufacturer confirmed the vessel would join Messi's fleet in the Balearic Islands, a Mediterranean archipelago popular for its coastal scenery and sailing.
The yacht's design focuses on private accommodation, outdoor leisure and easy access to the water. Planned features include five cabins, twin high-powered engines, and dedicated facilities for water sports.

Inside Messi's Sunreef ULTIMA 88 yacht
The ULTIMA 88 will have four guest cabins and a full-beam master suite, providing separate accommodation for Messi's family and visitors. The layout balances shared leisure areas with quieter spaces for privacy.
One key feature is Sunreef's Ocean Lounge, which opens to the water and is designed for activities such as swimming, relaxation, and water sports. A dedicated jet ski garage will store equipment, while extensive outdoor lounging areas will offer more space to unwind.
The yacht will also feature a large flybridge, creating another area to spend time outdoors, socialise, and enjoy views of the surrounding coastline.
Messi explained his interest in the brand in a statement published by Gulf News.
“It’s a real pleasure to join the Sunreef family. My family and I have always loved spending time at sea whenever we get the chance,” he said.
UAE yacht construction and engine power
The ULTIMA 88 is taking shape at Sunreef Yachts' facility in Ras Al Khaimah, placing the UAE at the centre of Messi's latest luxury purchase. The manufacturer, established in 2002, also has shipbuilding operations in Poland and specialises in tailor-made sailing yachts, power catamarans and superyachts.
Performance is another key feature of the vessel. Two engines, each rated at 1,000 horsepower, will give the yacht a combined output of 2,000 horsepower. The setup is intended to deliver power and manoeuvrability while retaining the spacious layout associated with the ULTIMA series.
Sunreef founder and chief executive Francis Lapp welcomed Messi and his family to the company, highlighting the personal freedom that yacht ownership can offer beyond the demands of public life.
“Leo Messi embodies an extraordinary level of excellence, but what makes this new chapter particularly meaningful to us is what happens beyond the spotlight,” Lapp said.
What Messi's yacht order means for his fleet
The ULTIMA 88 will join Messi's MIM Ocean fleet, which is based in the Balearic Islands. The order adds a UAE-built vessel to his collection while reflecting his stated interest in spending time at sea with his family.
The yacht's combination of private cabins, outdoor spaces and water-sports facilities is central to its design. However, the manufacturer has not provided a confirmed completion date or disclosed the purchase price.
For now, the vessel remains under construction in Ras Al Khaimah. Its eventual arrival in Messi's fleet will mark the next stage of the football star's association with Sunreef Yachts.
