Head coach Rassie Erasmus confirmed the decision during his team announcement on Tuesday. Marco van Staden has been named to start at the back of the scrum, with Paul de Villiers and Elrigh Louw lining up as flankers. André Esterhuizen will captain a side that features 13 changes from the previous starting XV.
Erasmus explains the bench decision
Erasmus explained that Jasper Wiese’s inclusion on the bench was largely a tactical decision aimed at maintaining balance within the squad.
