The children of late Zimbabwean millionaire Wicknell Chivayo are receiving professional counselling following the devastating loss of their father, family spokesman Herbert Chivayo confirmed on Friday, 2 October 2026.

Herbert, speaking to ZBC News outside the Gletwin mansion in Harare, remained composed and measured throughout the briefing. He confirmed that John and Atarah had not yet made their way to the funeral venue, as the family prioritised their emotional wellbeing in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy.

Wicknell Chivayo, who would have turned 46 in November, was killed alongside his wife Lucy when their helicopter crashed near Marondera on Wednesday evening, 30 September 2026. According to Herbert, the aircraft went down in a rural part of Marondera at around 5 p.m. while the couple were en route to Harare. The family confirmed the deaths shortly after the crash.
