What did Trump say?

Speaking to Fox News on 12 September 2025, the President stated that one person was taken in for questioning.

"I think, with a high degree of certainty, we have him in custody," Trump said when asked if there were updates on the case.

Trump further explained that the father of the suspect turned him in following the release of the footage. The FBI are yet to confirm the news but will host a press briefing later today to provide updates on the case.

At this point in time, the person remains a suspect and has not officially been arrested for the murder.

Following the news, confirmation came in that the suspect taken in was 22-year-old Utah local, Tyler Robinson. Robinson reportedly made statements to his father, which seemed to confirm his involvement. His father questioned him about the shooting after the photos were released through the media.
