Queen Elizabeth II Saddened after Death of Puppy Gifted to Her

Queen Elizabeth II is reportedly devastated after the passing of her young puppy, Fergus, at just five months old.

According to The Independent, the queen's dog was one of two she received as a gift from her son Prince Andrew.
Fergus, a dachshund and Welsh corgi mixed breed, fell ill in February before passing over the weekend.
Fergus, along with another corgi named Muick, joined the queen's family shortly after her late husband Prince Phillip was taken ill and hospitalised early in the year.
Prince Andrew hoped that the puppies would help lift the monarch's spirits as her husband was in hospital.
The deceased pet was reportedly named after the queen's maternal uncle Fergus Bowes-Lyon, who passed away in France during WW1.
This is said to be very upsetting to the royal family as it just comes approximately a month after the queen said goodbye to her longtime love.
Fergus and Muick are also the first dogs owned by the monarch that are not direct descendants of Susan, which she received during her 18th birthday in 1944.
The queen has owned about 30 corgis during her time.
Prince Philipps passing
The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, died at the age of 99 on April 9, after a long illness.
He was Queen Elizabeth II's first love and partner for 73 years.
While saying goodbye to her late husband, the queen left a handwritten note on her husband's casket, a beautiful reminisce to their early days as lovers.
There were white roses nicely placed on his casket that were personally selected by the queen and a handwritten note alongside the flowers, with her final words to her love.
The note read in part, "I love you", which was fitting as the two, who met when the queen was only 13 years old, used to communicate in letters back in the day.
