Disabled Australian Man Celebrates 4 Years Since Getting Engaged to Loving Wife

A differently-abled Australian man married to a Kenyan woman has marked four years since he popped the big question.

Phillip Eling shared lovely photos with his wife, Susan Njogu, on July 9, 2021, via Facebook.
In his message, Eling recounted asking for Njogu's hand in marriage in Swahili four years ago, saying:
“Utakuwa bibi yangu (will you be my wife)?”
Eling admitted to being scared when proposing to Njogu while expressing gratitude to God for his faithfulness.
“Today we are celebrating 4 years of engagement since I proposed on that evening 9/7/2017 in Swahili.
“Only God know how terrified I was waiting for that answer but God is faithful he made it possible for us,” he wrote.
Eling expressed pride in having married Njogu and urged netizens to believe in themselves.
“Now she is my beautiful darling wife married for 3yrs 6months. God is great. Believe in yourself,” he concluded.

The images shared by Eling depicted them in their living room with a banner indicating the four years since she said yes to him.

Speaking to Briefly News in 2019, the duo revealed that they met in 2014 in Australia, where Njogu had gone to pursue a diploma in working with the differently-abled
Born with muscular dystrophy, a disease that causes progressive weakness and loss of muscle mass, Eling was forced to use a wheelchair from the age of five.
"The way he carried himself overwhelmed me. I did not hesitate I had my eyes on him because the connection was very strong," she said.
They started dating, and he proposed six months later.
Convincing Njogu's parents
According to Eling, he knew it would not be easy convincing Njogu's parents to give them their blessing.
“I only wanted their approval, above anything else," Eling said.
Njogu's parents gave them the green light. Then, recalling the moment, Njogu said:
“I was ecstatic.”
They wedded on January 28, 2018, and are living their dream in Australia.
