Big commotion over the death of rapper XXXTentacion, but who was he?

Another deadly shooting, this time in the southern Florida city of Deerfield Beach. A 20-year-old, Rapper XXXTentacion, according to authorities, was fatally shot late Monday afternoon.

Causing attention for his success and extreme controversy, XXXTentacion’s was born, Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy and raised in South Florida, reported IOL News.

Uploading a song “Vice City” to Soundcloud in March 2014, XXXTentacion accumulated over 2 million followers. He then released several Eps increasing his cult followers becoming a mainstream celebrity.

XXXTentacion reported a while back that the only person that inspires him is Kurt Cobain. His musical genres ranged from mumble-rap, horrorcore, R&B and even heavy metal.

Briefly.co.za learbt that it was in August 2017 that XXXTentacion released his debut album "17," which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Seven months later, he released "?" topping the chart.

In the meantime, XXXTentacion was facing legal action. He was accused of punching his pregnant girlfriend. His reputation was progressively worsening.

October 2016, XXXTentacion was arrested and subsequently charged with aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment and witness-tampering after his ex-girlfriend accused him of physical abuse, including strangulation - both before and after he learned she was pregnant.

While awaiting trial, he pleaded no contest to previous charges of armed home-invasion robbery and battery.

XXXTentacion told in extreme detailed story of how he beat a homosexual cellmate just for looking at him. He has on previous occasions during interviews, boasted about his violent tendencies.

XXXTentacion’s violence even showed up at his concerts when he got into physical fights with fans.

Portraying such unacceptable behaviour, Eric Andre, a celebrity comedian, said that he disavowed XXXTentacion and urged others to follow suit.

After Andre’s plea, Spotify briefly removed the controversial rapper, along with singer R. Kelly, from its curated playlists citing a "hateful conduct" policy.

This was short lived and quickly restored them after backlash from the music industry, which reportedly included artists such as Kendrick Lamar.

At 3.57pm a call was received by emergency officials regarding a shooting on Dixie Highway. It was reported that an adult male victim was transported to a hospital.

Information received was according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. The death of the man was confirmed by the sheriff’s office almost two and a half hours later.

TMZ released a video before authorities were able to release the name of the victim or notify his next of kin. The video reported that it was XXXTentacion slouched in the driver’s seat, surrounded by onlookers as sirens blazed nearby.

Musicians and other celebrities took to social media to share their shock after hearing of the fatal shooting.

Kanye West posted that she never told XXXTentacion how much he inspired her when he was alive.

At the time of his death, XXXTentacion was awaiting trial.
