It is always interesting to hear how an actor feels about the character they play. Gugu Gumede plays the part of MaMlambo on Uzalo. This character struggles with the thought of a polygamous marriage so Gugu decided to give her view on this.

The fact that MaMlambo will possibly be a second wife to her husband, has opened many discussions with online fans.

Gugu said that she is appreciating the debates regarding polygamy as it is so widely practiced. On her travellers, Gugu has come across some many women in this type of relationship, reported Times Live.

She says that her character is representing women all over the world and in return they embrace her.

Briefly.co.za learnt that playing the character of MaMlambo, Gugu embodies an aunt, cousin and neighbour. It is something that cannot be swept under the carpet, it is happening and we have to be vocal about it.

Taking a life lesson from her father who was a polygamist, she has gained respect for the practice.

Gugu said that she could never she herself in a polygamous relationship, but in order to play her role she puts herself in the shoes of a polygamist in order to come across truthfully and fully.

To be a polygamist is not unchristian according to Gugu. She has said people should read the bible and they will find out just how often polygamy was practiced in those times, and the blessings the Lord bestowed on them.

Everything we do in life have pros and cons and we are not at liberty to tell someone else how to live their lives, Gugu said.
