A middle-aged man bit off more than he could chew when he volunteered to hold a very large snake.

He is assisted by trained professionals but is soon overcome with fear.

The rest of the team can be heard in the background as they tell the man to relax.

The hilarious footage was caught on camera and shared via Facebook by South Africa Live.

As the snake moves its face closer to the man’s body, he gets jittery with onlookers laughing in the background.
