Local school choir wows Mzansi with powerful open day performance

- St Mary’s DSG in Kloof’s choir performed beautifully at their open day

- The learners have been working with A21 raising awareness about human trafficking

St. Mary’s DSG learners amazed South Africans with their stunning vocals and musical talents. The Kloof chapter of the school performed a beautiful rendition of Labi Siffre’s (Something Inside) So Strong at their open day, entertaining future learners and their families.

The choir performed hoping to showcase their schools extensive cultural extra-curriculars. The learners sang reinterpretations of traditional classics, blowing audiences away with their creativity and enthusiasm, Briefly.co.za reported.

The performance also had an educational purpose and explored the issue of human trafficking through song and dance, Good Things Guy found. St. Mary’s learners have been engaging with the A21 campaign committed to the sruggle against trafficking.

The talented learners have been recognised for their impressive singing abilities and were named World Champions in the Scenic Folklore category of the World Choir Games in Tshwane last year.

Grade 9 learner, Sikelelwe Jarana and grade 11 learner, Alande Mkhize, performed stunning solos, blowing the audience away.

South Africans loved the learners performances and shared their pride and appreciation on social media.
