Single mom keeps badges from previous jobs as motivation for doctorate
It has been a long journey to success for Faye Lewis who has always dreamed of becoming a certified nursing assistant, just like her mother was. To remind herself o how she has come, Faye shared a photo of all her old name tags on social media.

Faye has overcome plenty of challenges from falling pregnant to losing her family in a house fire. Despite this, she continued to boldly work towards achieving her dreams.
Reminding herself of how far she has progressed in life, Fayen kept nametags from all the places she’s worked, which motivates her to keep up the hard work.
Although she had always been a top academic achiever, Faye got two Bs after her first year and was not accepted into nursing school. Thereafter, she discovered that she was pregnant.

In 2010 she had completed training to become a CNA and qualified as a Licensed Practical Nurse within 9 months.
To make ends meet while pregnant, she worked at restaurant franchise KFC. After qualifying she kept the job at KFC in addition to working as a nurse, Briefly.co.za found.
During this busy period, the unthinkable happened. Her father three cousins and dog were caught in a house fire and passed away. Her mother was fortunate to have made it out.

Determined to rise above the hardship and make her belated father proud, she continued studying, earning herself an Associates degree in Nursing, followed by a BA in 2016, reports Western Journal.
Faye says she is inspired by her mother who would always encourage her to keep going.
She says the photo of her name tags all lined up as motivation to obtain her doctorate.
