A principal of a school in Daveyton, East Rand, has been suspended after allegations emerged that he impregnated two pupils.
Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi confirmed the suspension.
Several EFF members had protested outside the school, calling for action to be taken against the principal.

The EFF crowd reportedly cheered when police escorted the principal away from the school premises.
Sipho Watkins, a spokesperson for the EFF, condemned the principal's actions, saying that he had taken advantage of the students who were in his care.
Additionally, Lesufi paid a visit to the school, where he announced that the principal had been handed a letter of suspension following a review process which had looked into the allegations, according to The Sowetan.

Lesufi said that an acting principal has been appointed to manage the school for the time being. He added that steps were being taken to verify the allegations against the principal and to get into contact with the pupils and their families, Briefly.co.za has gathered.

Reportedly, parents and members of the local community had been complaining about the principal for at least three months.
The EFF has said they are disappointed that action was only taken against the principal now.
