Natasha Thahane opens up about her racism experiences in America

The Mzansi actress, Natasha Thahane, has opened up about the racism she experienced from her Russian room-mate in New York.

Even though actress Natasha Thahane left her job on The Queen to pursue her academic career in New York, and she's been posting all about her life in the Big Apple on Instagram, her life isn't all as it seems.

The young actress recently opened up to Drum Magazine about the racism she has experienced while living with her Russian room-mate in New York.

According to a report by TshisaLive, Natasha explained that she began to experience racism first-hand when people found out that she was from Africa.

She told Drum:

"It wasn’t long before I began experiencing racism when people found out I was from Africa. They made comments about my hair, the way I looked. One lady even moved when I came to sit next to her on the subway."

But still Natasha explained she could handle that but not the racism she experienced from her Russian room-mate.

Natasha claimed that her room-mate had not experienced interacting with black people before and often sanitised everything that the actress touched. Natasha got tired of it and eventually confronted her.

But despite the adversities she was faced with, Natasha still graduated with flying colors from the New York Film Academy and made her family proud.

Since her return home, the actress has been making moves in the entertainment industry. Two days ago, Briefly.co.za reported that Natasha Thahane took to social media to share the exciting news and a glimpse of her new role on Lockdown with her fans.

The talented actress is lucky to keep getting roles in popular series, escalating her career on screen. Natasha recently bagged the role in the prison series, Lockdown's season four.

She took to her Instagram account to share the exciting news with her followers, as well as to explain her role and share a glimpse of what her character will be like on the show.
