Over the past two years, Rodwell got to know 69-year-old Johan - a pensioner living on only R1 780 a month.

Briefly.co.za gathered Johan lives in a tent with no electricity or toilet facilities. In 2017, Rodwell bought a piece of land and has since built himself a beautiful home.

However, he was touched by Johan's living conditions and decided to help him out. Rodwell gave the pensioner a piece of land and has since started a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to build him a house.

Rodwell hopes to raise R20 000 and South Africans have since already donated more than R6 000.

"Johan is vulnerable to thieves and other vagrants who consistently steal His possessions and food," Rodwell wrote on the Backabuddy page.

Rodwell, who is also a pensioner, needs the funds to build Johan a wendy house.

"This is quite urgent now, as with winter here, rainy season is also approaching, and my concern is his age and frailty, I would really be happy to see Johan in a warm environment and place of safely, as he has been robbed many times of all his possessions," he added.
