Idols SA judge Unathi Nkayi found herself in some hot water after passing a comment implying that Xhosa people are the only ones making waves in Mzansi .

Making racial, cultural or gender-based comments and generalisations is simply just a no in today’s times – Unathi obvs didn’t mean it negatively but a gurl should have thought a tad more before saying something like that on live TV.

Briefly.co.za learnt that Unathi hyped Xhosa people up after Xhosa Idols SA contestant Luyolo gave a hella lit performance last night.

Unathi congratulated Luyolo and then said: “On behalf of the Xhosa people, we are tired of holding up the nation.” She then took it one step further by naming fellow Xhosa peeps that have recently done the most for Mzansi: John Kani, Atandwa Kani, Zozibini Tunzi, Siya Kolisi and herself – the excitement got the better of her, clearly.

The people of Mzansi were not pleased!

Unathi has since come forward to apologise for her slightly over-excited rant. Understanding how her words may have come across a bit too strong and may have been taken in a negative light, Unathi took to social media to give a sincere public apology.

Shame, sisi genuinely wasn’t out to hurt anyone.
