Nick Evans is a well-known snake wrangler and he shared a story about how he recently helped an elderly friend who had a black mamba in her house.

This was the sixth black mamba Nick had caught in a week. He revealed that he received a phone call and from the tone of her friend's voice he knew there was something wrong.

"Nick, there's a black mamba in my laundry room."

Briefly.co.za learned that he was there in 10 minutes and learned how the lady found the snake. She had been reading in her kitchen when she noticed the reptile sliding into her kitchen. It was right next to her feet when she realised what it was.

Using her walking stick, she nudged the snake's head away and kept it out of the house. The snake retreated into the laundry room and hid behind a cupboard.

He called his friend Roger to come and help move the cupboard and with his help he managed to capture the deadly reptile.

Social media users loved the story and shared their comments on the post:

Deb Blancheluna Moon: "Elderly woman seem to have nerves of steel. Some years ago I was staying at a game lodge near Sabi Sabi. During dinner one evening a horrendous storm blew in and it rained very hard till late into the night, so we were not able to return to our rooms for quite a while. When the rain finally stopped it was pitch black outside and a game ranger with the only torch to hand offered to walk us to our rooms. After escorting an elderly guest to her cabin the game ranger returned to the lodge pub where we were waiting for him, looking very pale and shaken. Apparently, when they arrived at the woman’s cabin they found a lioness stretched out across the doorway of the cabin and before the game ranger could react, the little old woman daintily stepped over the lioness and went into her room. "
Roslyn Argall: "Brilliant! Well done, team! As a child, a friend and I were playing in a lapa after dark while our parents sat around a campfire a short distance away. I was hiding, waiting to be found when I heard a hiss and felt a snake slither over my foot. I froze, but as soon as it was what I thought was a safe distance away I sprinted to the grown-ups to tell them. Of course, nobody believed me, but at my insistence, they eventually humoured me and brought a torch to come and have a look. What we found was a roughly 2m black mamba curled around the pipes underneath the basin just next to where I had been standing. This was in rural Botswana where most of our snakes were of the dangerous kind."
René Harry: "Very scary indeed. I'm not sure if I would have been that calm if a snake slithered past me. Well done to the lady for keeping so cool under pressure!"

In other news, Briefly.co.za reported that well-known snake catcher Nick Evans has often been lauded for saving the day following his many rescues of large reptiles.

On Wednesday, Evans shared a remarkable video via Facebo which detailed a recent experience where he was called upon to capture a massive Black Mamba.
