Lesego Marakalla has quit the hit show Skeem Saam. According to reports, the actress is retiring the role of Rachel Kunutu after eight years to study full-time.

Lesego played the role of Rachel Kunutu, a fan favourite who trended frequently on social media. Her final appearance on Skeem Saam will be on 19 June. She took to social media to share her farewell message and thank her beloved fans for their support.

“To all my fans, I really appreciate the love and support you have given me since day one."

Her final appearance will be on 19 June. In a statement, Lesego says she is not sure if she will return to acting. Social media users did not take the news of her departure well. Twitter user mashoto said:

"Skeem Saam will never be the same."

DCloudius said:

"She is smart and understands that she is not going to be young forever and not let fame drink her. All the best Rachel."

Jabulaneradebe said:

"We are going to miss her!"

PhokaTSV said:

"She's a superstar this one."

Meanwhile, Briefly.co.za reported that Nqobile Ndlovu is said to be leaving as they didn't want to pay her what she wanted. Apparently Nqobile refused to sign her new contract unless they agreed to pay her more, and they clearly didn't. Koobeshen Naidoo is said to also be calling it a day alongside Nqobile.
