Sjava bags a role on eHostela despite critics calling for boycott

Sjava faced cancellation after allegations emerged that he had assaulted his ex Lady Zamar, however, the allegations failed to damage his career as he continues to work.

The award-winning actor has been offered a role in the series eHostela for the upcoming season.

According to a report by Sowetan Live, the director of eHostela is not possible threats of a boycott of the show due to Mandla N casting Sjava in the series.

In an interview with TshisaLIVE, Mandla revealed that he admires Sjava as an actor and he had worked with him musically before. He brought him onto the show to create some drama. Sjava will play the role of one of the antagonists on the series called Fish.

Fans of the show have threatened to boycott the series over Mandla's decision to cast the controversial star.

Sjava did have issues in the past due to the assault allegations, he had lost out on some roles and gigs had been cancelled but now he appears to be on the up and up.

Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that Focalistic recently took to social media to share a picture of himself along with industry peer Sjava. The pair looked cool as cucumbers on the picture which amassed over 20 000 likes on social media.

The picture was captioned:

“CULTURE.. How does this song sound?#SghubuSesExcellent"

In other news, Sjava recently opened up about the meaning behind his song titled Emaweni. After a fan questioned the motivation that prompted the singer to pen the tune, he explained that it was about a situation involving a former lover.

He explained that he fell head-over-heels for a certain woman and even though he was warned, he continued to pursue her until things ended in tears.

Many assumed that the woman he was talking about was Lady Zamar. The pair allegedly dated before their relationship turned sour, resulting in Zamar accusing him of sexual assault.
