A petition to bring back Pearl Thusi's Queen Sono is in full swing. The fans of the show want Netflix to continue with the production of Season 2 of the show.

The first African original series features actors such as Pearl, Vuyo Dabula, Loyiso Madinga, among many other Mzansi stars. The dope show was created and directed by Kagiso Lediga.

Pearl plays the role of the secret agent who fights crime while dealing with crises in her life. The fans of the series took to Twitter recently to share that they can't wait to watch Season 2 of the show. A petition was created after Kagiso announced in November that the production of the show has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A tweep recently took to social media to ask where she must sign because she also wants the show to come back. Pearl then took to Twitter on Tuesday, 19 January and shared the link. The media personality wrote:

"BRING BACK QUEEN SONO PETITION HERE"

Another tweep @wolfNodELak took to Pearl's comment section and wrote:

"@PearlThusi, Ma'am, what's this I'm seeing about Queen Sono being cancelled? Please tell me it's fake news!"

The stunner replied:

"It has ... but someone started a petition to bring it back yesterday."

In related news, Briefly.co.za reported that Pearl Thusi's Queen Sono has been cancelled. Netflix's first African original series will not be returning for Season 2 due to production challenges related to Covid-19. The series had been given a go-ahead to shoot another season a few months back but Netflix has now decided to pull the plug on it due to the current "trying times".

The first season of the epic series was shot in different locations across Africa, including South Africa, Nigeria and Zanzibar, among others.

Creator and director of the show Kagiso Lediga confirmed that Season 2 of the series, which follows a well-trained spy played by Pearl Thusi, has been cancelled. Kagiso told Channel24 that they had written a beautiful story but could not be executed amid theCovid-19 pandemic.

The publication reports that a Netflix spokesperson also confirmed that the production of Season 2 of the series has been halted.

"We've made the difficult decision not to move forward with Season 2 of Queen Sono."

Kagiso took to Twitter on Thursday, 26 November to let his fans know that the show has been "another casualty" of 2020. He wrote:

"Another casualty of 2020. Thank you to all the fans and awesome team behind Queen Sono for the magic."
