Couple Finds Missing Cellphone Owner Through Social Media, Praised for Honesty

It was an unbelievable moment for Jonathan Deevian Vickory when his girlfriend Vanessa Louw made an effort to find the owner of a mobile phone she picked up in a taxi.

Despite the fact that many subscribe to the notion that one man's loss is another man's gain, they went to extreme lengths to return the device to its rightful owner.

Vickory shared this inspirational story via popular Facebook page, #ImStaying, where the proud boyfriend expressed delight as they successfully handed the cellphone back to athe unnamed owner.

According to Vickory, his girlfriend made a number of attempts to locate the owner through various Facebook pages but with no success.

Although Vickory said they forgot to even ask the name of the owner because of excitement, they were convinced the guy was the right guy as he managed to unlock it just before they handed it over.

Vickory posted on their group:

"Hallo Stayers... my GF (girlfriend) Vanessa Louw did pick up a phone of someone in the taxi with several attempts via FB (Facebook) groups.
"We finally got hold of him he just came to fetch his phone. He is a very happy chappy so excited we even forget to ask for his name but he successfully passed the test by unlocking his phone before we could hand over the phone.
“He also gave my GF (girlfriend) money which she refused to take.”

Vickory and Louw's efforts come at a time where it becomes a rare occurrence to get a call or contact from a member of the public after losing a valuable such as a mobile phone.

Meanwhile, the couple's deeds have not gone unnoticed by the group's followers, who expressed their views while sharing the same sentiments in showering the two lovers with blessings.

Kagiso Doyi could not hold his excitement and said:

“This group just keeps on inspiring me to be a better and safe person to others. Wow.”

Liezel-May Davies praised the couple's honesty and efforts to get hold of the owner:

“May God bless both of you Jonathan. I know you too were trying to find the owner of that phone so big ups to you and Vanessa for your honesty.”

Hilda Polley also had a good message to convey to Louw and Vickory:

“That's awesome!! Vanessa you are an Earth Angel. God bless you both abundantly.”

In excitement, Moyra Brett expressed happiness, saying they are proud of the gesture:

“Honesty is the best policy... be proud of yourself, we are proud of you.”

On the other hand, Briefly.co.za reported that a South African, Chokoe Machela, managed to also use social media to track down the owner who lost belongings.

Machela engaged social media users with the aim of finding the owner of missing goods he found under a seat at an airport.

Upon his efforts, the good Samaritan managed to successfully find Siyabonga Badi using his ID card as he also revealed he found a bunch of Badi's belongings, including a tablet and a lot of money.

This website's investigation discovered that in return, the grateful man gave Machela a gift basket and an unexpected R1 000 as a reward.
