Nomvelo Makhanya is reportedly leaving the popular soapie Scandal to focus on her relationship that is blossoming into something serious.

The actress joined the soapie when she was 16 years old, and her breakthrough role made her become a household name in South Africa.

IOL reported that the 26-year-old recently won her first SA Film and Television Award (SAFTA) after being in the game for all these years.

According to Zalebs, the character she plays on Scandal 'Lindiwe Ngema' will not be killed off, but a dramatic scene will precede her departure. Nomvelo has been playing that role for more than ten years. Tinashe Eugene Mashunguri wrote:

"A source close to the actress revealed to IndAfrica that although it was a tough decision to make she had to do it to secure her relationship as she’s in a serious relationship that is about to turn into a marriage and her husband to be isn’t comfortable seeing her kissing other men on screen."
