Vuma FM is feeling the pinch after it fired award-winning presenter Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma without an explanation. Fans have taken matters into their own hands and made their anger known after Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma revealed her dismissal in a statement shared on her social media account.

Jacinta, who presents the 9 am to noon show on Vuma FM, shared that her last day on the station will be Thursday, 31 July 2025. In her statement, Ngobese-Zuma strongly hinted that her activism had resulted in her dismissal from Vuma FM.

While angry fans didn’t take to the streets to protest Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma’s dismissal, they staged a massive boycott campaign online. According to a report by Daily Sun, Vuma FM lost 7,000 followers in a single day.

On Sunday, 20 July 2025, Vuma FM had 222,000 Facebook followers. By Monday, 21 July, the number had dropped to 215,000. At the time of writing on Wednesday, 23 July 2025, the official Vuma FM Facebook page had lost 2,000 followers and stood at 213,000 followers as the boycott campaign gained momentum.

Through the March in March campaign, Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma blocked foreigners from accessing healthcare in Durban. KZN Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane condemned the move and called in the police.

Rumours swirled that the MEC had pressured Vuma FM to fire Jacinta. Simelane firmly denied the claims, stating that she has no power or interest in the staffing decisions at the commercial radio station.

After days of silence, Vuma FM finally issued a statement on Monday, 21 July 2025.

The station explained that the 2020 KZN Entertainment Awards Best Radio Presenter Female award winner was not fired. Vuma FM claimed that her contract was not renewed after an internal annual review. The station emphasised that all presenter contracts are renewed annually at their discretion.

"The recent decision made by Vuma FM not to renew Mrs Ngobese-Zuma's contract as a presenter is not a dismissal but a natural conclusion of an independent contractor's term,” part of the statement read.

Ntiski Mazwai reacts to video showing empty hospital

Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma isn't the only South African blocking undocumented immigrants from accessing healthcare.

Briefly News reported that Ntsiki Mazwai reacted to a viral video showing a clean and quiet South African hospital allegedly emptied after Operation Dudula members removed foreign nationals.
