Federal prosecutors in the Diddy case have fiercely opposed the rapper’s new bid to be released on bail ahead of his sentencing. This was after Diddy’s lawyers requested his release on $50 million bail arguing that the rapper wasn’t safe behind bars.
The judge ruled against Diddy’s first bail application after was found guilty on 2 out of 5 charges that he faced at the federal court in New York City. The Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop rapper had his legal team file documents asking Judge Arun Subramanian for him to be released on $50 million bail, which is over R893M, but the federal prosecutors aren’t having it.

In their response, prosecutors cited two cases similar to Diddy’s in which judges denied bail for defendants who were also facing sex trafficking charges but were only convicted for Mann Act violations. The prosecutors also argued that Diddy didn’t provide evidence to mitigate his crimes which might justify his release on bail.
They argued that Diddy poses a danger to others because of his history of violent behaviour and shouldn’t be released on $50 million bond. Prosecutors state that as a man of means, Diddy poses a huge flight risk and demonstrated an ability to conceal crimes. They also listed his past efforts to bribe security officers and Diddy’s general disregard of the law.
