Podcast and Chill co-host Sol Phenduka shared his thoughts after Gayton McKenzie made threats amid calls for him to either step down or for President Cyril Ramaphosa to remove him from his post as the Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture.

Minister Gayton McKenzie landed himself in hot water after several netizens resurfaced his racist tweets after he led a campaign calling for the Open Chats Podcast to be cancelled over its insensitive comments against the coloured community.

Minister Gayton McKenzie responded with a threat amid calls from netizens for President Cyril Ramaphosa to fire him. In a snippet shared by entertainment and current affairs blogger MDN News on Monday, 11 August 2025, Gayton McKenzie said:

“If for some reason I’m going to the ground and I’m no longer minister, you don’t know what’s coming. Let me tell you something loud and clear: that time when coloured people are second-class citizens, it’s over.”

Reacting to McKenzie’s unspecified threat warning against his removal, Sol Phenduka asked the Minister to clarify what would happen if President Cyril Ramaphosa fired him. The post was captioned:

Sizwe Dhlomo reacts to Gayton McKenzie allegedly deleting racist tweets

Sol Phenduka's Kaya FM co-host Sizwe Dhlomo also weighed in on the drama surrounding Gayton McKenzie, as reported by Briefly News.

Dhlomo, who has openly called for McKenzie to be dismissed, reacted to allegations that the Minister was deleting his racist claims. The claims were made by an X user who even suggested an alternative way for McKenzie to handle the matter.
