Sol Phenduka Responds to Gayton McKenzie Claiming His Racial Slurs Were AI-Generated

Calls to have Gayton McKenzie removed as the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture have mounted. This was caused by his racist remarks towards black people in a series of unfathomable tweets.

After Gayton McKenzie slammed Open Chats podcasters for their controversial remarks about the Coloured community, peeps unearthed 2011 tweets of Gayton using the K-word repeatedly.

The Patriotic Alliance leader broke his silence, saying he could not be racist because his mother is a black woman. In one of the video clips circulating, Gayton McKenzie claimed that some posts were AI-generated.

Sol Phenduka laughs at Gayton McKenzie

Kaya 959 radio star Sol Phenduka weighed in on a video of Gayton trying to justify his actions. Phenduka echoed many people's sentiments, saying there is no such thing as AI-tweets.

In the video, Gayton said, "Some of those tweets are not even mine, guys. People are now making AI tweets, and then said it is me," he said before shaking in 'disbelief.'

Below is what Sol said:

In another apology, Gayton said he will investigate the posts, but maintained that he is not racist. In his live video, Gayton did apologise for the remarks he made, but also made some eye-opening statements.

"I cringe when seeing them, and I am truly sorry for that. I shall subject myself to the investigation," he said. "I can never be guilty of racism, try some other take down, but never racism. I did tweet some insensitive, stupid and hurtful things a decade or two ago, I was a troll and stupid."

He also went on to defend his race, saying they should not be treated as second-class citizens.

“Let me tell you something loud and clear: That time when Coloured people were second-class citizens is over. It’s over," he stated.

Regarding calls to have him removed as a Minister, Gayton boldly said, "You don’t know if, for some reason, I’m going to the ground, and I’m no longer a minister, you don’t know what’s coming,” he said. “We don’t want to be treated better than black people, because they are our brothers and sisters. We want to be treated equally,” he remarked.

Sol Phenduka reacts to Gayton McKenzie's post

In a previous report from Briefly News, after growing calls for President Cyril Ramaphosa to fire Gayton McKenzie for his racist tweets, Gayton made a bold statement.

Netizens weighed in on Sol Phenduka's question and speculated what McKenzie meant. Sol Phenduka's Kaya FM co-host Sizwe Dhlomo reacted to a suggestion that Gayton McKenzie was taking the easy way out.
