Former Kaya FM presenter Unathi Nkayi has revealed the name of her new radio show. This comes after she launched her radio station, 938Whatsnext.

Following the launch of her radio station, the former Idols SA judge, who had social media buzzing with her Father’s Day message, confirmed that she would be hosting the afternoon drive. Until recently, the show did not have an official name, and Unathi Nkayi has finally stepped in with an update.

Unathi Nkayi names her new radio show

On Tuesday, 19 August 2025, Unathi took to her official Instagram account and shared a video updating her followers on the name of her radio show. She explained that coming up with a new name for the show wasn’t easy, but they eventually narrowed it down to three choices: The U-Turn, Listeners’ Drive and Your Drive. She explained how she and her team narrowed it to one name, saying:

“So, we're gonna take you through the top three and then obviously three, two, one. Three, was ‘The U-turn’, obvious reference to my initial U and obviously driving around. But, u-turn always suggests the wrong direction was taken first. So, we didn't want that ambiguity to live amongst our listeners every day. Then, because we are of service and service being our love language as well as this community, the 938 community, then we thought, OK, the Listeners Drive right, which is very apt and what we want to do, make this all about the listeners. However, naming it the Listeners Drive goes against all my radio teaching. Radio 101, Broadcasting 101, tells you never to address your audience in a plural because the person who's choosing to be with you every day doesn't want to be constantly reminded that they're sharing you. So, theatre of the mind part of it is always address your audience in a singular person mode and never pluralise your audience. So, Listeners Drive will always remind people that you know you are not alone. You know what I'm saying?”

She said they eventually settled on the name Your Drive on 938. Unathi explained why they went with the name, saying:

“So, we thought, how about Your Drive on 938, 'cause then you can play with the word Your Drive or you drive this show. But you are number one, you don't have to share us, and we are here to serve you. So, your drive, yeah, your driver, 938, you drive with me or 938, you drive with us on 938, you're driving on my own, only on 938, whatever you want, but it's your drive.”

Meanwhile, the Unathi's announcement of her new show's name came days before the suspension of another broadcaster by a popular radio show.
