Media personality Phumeza Shoba surprised South Africans this past weekend when it was reported that she's filed for divorce from her husband, Mnqobi Shoba, after 11 years of marriage.

The actress, who recently celebrated her son's international gig, has reportedly accused her husband of cheating.

Sunday World reports that Phumeza and Mnqobi entered into an out-of-community-of-property-with-accrual agreement in 2014.

A source shared with the publication that Phumeza wants to equally share their estate, their Porsche, and their Volvo SUVs, which are the assets they accumulated together when they got married 11 years ago.

The publication also reported that the TV presenter is seeking R45 000 monthly spousal maintenance and R5 000 towards their partially blind son.

An insider adds that Phumeza contacted Mnqobi and tried to separate from him without involving lawyers after finding out that her husband had cheated on her. However, the musician, who is reportedly out of the country from April to October, did not cooperate.

The music producer revealed on his Instagram account in March 2025 that he's been in a relationship with his wife for 18 years.

South Africans react to the Shoba's divorce

@simphiwedlamin2 commented:

"Bathong after everything they’ve been through."

@stithinkimpact reacted:

"We are not ready for the polygamy discussion. Religion destroyed one of the greatest reasons why Africa never needed an orphanage age and never had divorces, no broken families. It was the fiber that held the community in power."

"Honestly, I think this was a strong and healthy decision. It’s never an easy choice after 11 years, but staying after discovering cheating would’ve been draining. Leaving shows she values her self-respect and well-being. Sometimes walking away is the smartest move."

@BigGxabashe replied:

"The Black Coffee effect, 🔥🔥 show me your friends and I’ll show you your future 😂😂."

@visse_ss wrote:

"He is broke now....the lady wants to take everything now."

"Lol, the guy is forever in Ibiza surrounded by models, cheating was bound to happen. Phumeza seems like a good woman, hopefully they will overcome this minor setback."

@Hoecutter reacted:

"I don't condone cheating, but men cheat. It's not because they no longer love their women. It's their nature, dispute this all you like. I didn't make the rules."
