Bathong, what's this about South African artists not fulfilling their promises after being paid to come and entertain their fans? Recently, the popular exotic dancer Zodwa Wabantu landed in hot water after she allegedly failed to pitch for a gig that she got paid for.
The famous reality TV star, who got engaged to her new Ben 10 in 2025, was accused by the Capello Newtown club owner, Shane Reddy, of being a no-show for an event they had booked her for on Saturday, 30 August 2025.

Reddy also exclusively told Briefly News that they had already paid Zodwa a deposit for her to perform, which she agreed to attend and also got her face and name added to the event's poster.
"Zodwa Wabantu was booked and scheduled to appear at Cappello Newtown in Joburg CBD at The Billionaires' DJ ‘Nyamazane single launch. This was communicated to her, she confirmed her availability, but did not fulfil her promise. After a lengthy wait and phone calls to check how far she was, she did not bother to text or call to say she’s in the sky and off to Botswana," Reddy shared.
Reddy is furious over this matter, as it seems that Wabantu is not willing to take responsibility for her actions.
The Billionaires were disappointed by Zodwa's actions
The no-show didn’t just affect the club owner, as The Billionaires were also left disappointed. Speaking to Briefly News, they mentioned how the exotic dancer's actions have put them in a tight spot with the club owner, and now they are being blocked from ever hosting or performing at Capello again.

The Billionaires member, Ngcebo, said:
"After realising she wasn't answering calls or texts while we waited and wondered where she was, I felt confused. I was even more disheartened when I learned she had accepted the Botswana gig without telling us and wouldn't attend our launch.
"We had worked hard for the marketing, and the venue was packed, but I sensed disappointment from the crowd and felt anxious because I had no explanation for her absence."

Zodwa Wabantu shares her side of the story
After being slammed and accused of being a no-show at Capello's, Zodwa Wabantu exclusively shared her side of the story with Briefly News about what transpired in their agreement with the club.
Speaking on the phone with Briefly News journalist Mbali Tebele, Zodwa confirmed that she did miss the show because she had been booked for another gig in Botswana.
"Skhokho, yes, I was booked at Capello, and they did send me R3K as a deposit, but unfortunately, I had another gig in Botswana that I couldn't turn down, so I decided to go there.
"As for the R3K payment they made to my account, they won't get it back because I believe that money shouldn't be sent back after it was given to you. So, I told the club owner that they must come up with another date that I will be able to come and perform at Capello, so I am waiting on them," she said.
